Last year I went on a tour of Italy.
I was there for 10 days and visited three
cities.
We first flew to Venice, where a bus met
us and took us to our hotel, near the center of the city.
Venice is interesting because there aren't
any cars and people travel everywhere on foot or by boat.
Even the buses are boats!
Our guide took us around the city and explained
the history of some of the beautiful buildings there.
In the evening, we ate spaghetti and drank
Italian wine; it's much cheaper in Italy than in Japan.
After two and a half days in Venice, we
went to Florence and visited the churches and palaces.
We saw a lot of works of art in the museums.
I think that Florence is the most beautiful
place I have ever seen, and I was surprised how many of
the people spoke English.
After Florence, we went to Rome, where I
had the only unpleasant experience of my holiday.
A boy on a motorbike tried to snatch my
shoulder bag, but my friend pushed him away.
I liked Rome, but it was noisier and dirtier
than the other cities and I really preferred Florence and
Venice.
It was a great holiday and I'm planning
to go back to Italy again next year.
