Unfortunately, differences between nationalities also result in jokes and prejudices. For example, the English say that the Irish are stupid and the Scottish are stingy. The Americans think that the Polish are simple, and the Russians think that the Ukrainians have no brains. There are a lot of prejudices in Europe, where there are so many countries so close to each other. The Dutch don't like the Germans, and the British and the French hate each other. With so many people with so many prejudices, it is difficult to imagine Europe as one united country.
030	（英会話リスニングスクリプト） I live in the countryside with my parents and, last month, I decided to buy a second-hand car to drive to my part-time job. I have already saved about half the cost of a car and I made an appointment with my bank manager to borrow the rest of the money. The appointment was at two o'clock in the afternoon and I took my parents' car to drive to the bank. It was almost two when I got there and, luckily, there was an empty parking space just in front of the bank. As I was locking my car, a middle-aged man drove up near my car and started waving and shouting. I just ignored him and went straight into the bank. I waited for a few minutes, and then a secretary told me that the manager was ready to see me.
