David is a TV junkie.
Every evening at five o'clock he turns on
the television and watches until he falls asleep, which
is usually sometime after midnight.
He doesn't have a remote control, so when
he gets into bed he's far too lazy to get up and turn it
off.
Therefore, the TV stays on all night.
Sometimes he awakens to a nature program
about spiders or some other creepy, crawly insects, which
frighten him back under the sheets, he sleeps fitfully until
early morning.
Like clockwork the theme music of the early
bird news program gives him a much needed jolt awake and
out of bed and he hurriedly prepares for a day at the office.
After he showers and grooms himself, he
quickly scans over the newspaper headlines and then turns
to the TV page, where he circles his choice of programmes
for the night with a bright red pen.
He then folds the page carefully and tucks
it into his briefcase, along with all the other paperwork
he's collected over the past few weeks but hasn't had a
chance to attend to.
He then heads for the door, but just before
opening it, he reaches out his right hand and pushes the
bright yellow "off" button on the big black box
that he loves so much.
